Our Standard 1" Ram requires 3-gpm water flows. The 1.5" and 2" models require the same minimum amount of water flow, but will pump more volume than the smaller version.
We now offer reverse flow strainers if you have a concern with sediment getting into your pump. See below for more information.

The Reverse Flow Strainer will keep leaves, sticks and other debris from entering your ram pump system and keep the system running smooth. It is not designed to "filter" the water, but only to "strain out" the trash items that would interfere with the pump's operation. They are very easy to install, by simply slipping them over the intake pipe at the source of the water (the very beginning of the system). They are constructed from PVC parts and with the strainers pointing in a downward angle away from the surface of the water. Available only in the 1", 1.5" and 2" sizes.
